The best clubs in Lucerne. Where you can dance and have a good time.
Author: Christian Macek, Local Resident since 1976
Are you passing through or visiting Lucerne and want to have a good time?
Here’s what you need to know: The club scene in Lucerne is rather small. There are few clubs that always play techno, for example. That’s why it’s important to know the small but nice Clubs and Bars, and then check the current Program to see what’s playing on the night you want to go.
Personally, I find the small, alternative Clubs in Lucerne much more appealing and exciting than the bigger ones like the ROK and the Princess Club. Both clubs are rather notorious for sometimes having a difficult and young audience. The Google ratings are correspondingly low: A modest 2.4 stars for the Princess and 3.1 for the ROK.
So let’s forget them and see what else is out there.
Neubad Lucerne – Bistro and Club
The former public city swimming pool has developed into a very lively cultural venue. There is always something going on here: Events, Theater, Concerts etc. They have also one of the bigger Co-Working Space in Lucerne.
There is a small but excellent Club in the basement. Techno is often played here. Here you can find the program of the Neubad Club Lucerne.
During the day you can eat well and cheaply, mostly vegetarian, in the bistro. The Sunday Brunch at Neubad. is also much praised.
The Neubad is located in a residential area, slightly away from the center. But Lucerne is small, so you can easily get there on foot.
Monopol / Trainstation
In addition, there are two centers where there are many Bars and Clubs. One is around the Hotel Monopol, right next to the Trainstation, and the other is in Baselstrasse.
Downstairs from the Monopol is the Roadhouse. A bar with a music club in the basement. There is no entrance fee and there are often DJs playing hits from the past and present. On the other side in Frankenstrasse there is the Franky Bar. They also like to play loud music here and there is a club in the basement. Sometimes they have Techno-Partys in the basement.
Right next door is the bar “Das Weisse Schaf” (the white sheep) and in the basement is the club “Das Schwarze Schaf” (the black sheep). The clientele in the black sheep tends to be young.
But that’s all a bit mainstream. If you really want to immerse yourself in Lucerne’s club scene, then I recommend a trip to Baselstrasse.
Baselstrasse
At the beginning of the street is the “Madeleine”. On the right is the smokers‘ bar, on the left you can dance (smoke-free). The program varies, you can find it on their website. There is no entrance fee, but you have to be over 25.
Right next door is a CBD club that often plays African Beats and Goa-Trance until the early hours of the morning. There’s a lot of smoking here (not just cigarettes), so it’s not for the faint-hearted.
100 meters further on is Kaffee Kind, a bar that often has good DJs. Directly opposite, underneath the Tex-Mex restaurant Crazy Cactus, is the Techno Club Kegelbahn. The club is small and charges admission. But you can really party here until the early hours.
Further up Baselstrasse is the Fritz Bar, a nice wine bar which often has DJs on the weekend. If you go out around the corner to the right, you come to the Techno Club Kiosk. A beautiful, newly renovated cellar. In my opinion, this is currently the Best Techno Club in Lucerne.
I hope this text helps you to spend a good club night in Lucerne!
